Alternative Lifestyles and Swingers Family

Admittedly, there are several connotations to the term “alternative lifestyles”, both positive and negative. 

On the positive side, these can simply mean finding new and better ways to accomplish things; it can mean people who think outside the box and have significantly contributed to society’s development. 

On the negative side, alternative lifestyles mean going against the grain of societal standards; it can mean subversive and rebellious people who threaten society’s stability.    

In modern times, the negative associations of alternative lifestyles can be said to stem from the alternative lifestyles in the 60's & 70's particularly with the drugs, sex, and rock ‘n roll lifestyle of the 60s hippies.  The alternative lifestyles of communal living and New Age travelers only worsened the negative links since people who took up these lifestyles were perceived to have no personal ambitions for riches and aimless bums; these were qualities that were at odds with the American Dream. 

Regardless of your stand for and against alternative lifestyles, we must respect the choice of people who espouse them.  These are valid lifestyles and valid choices made consciously and deliberately; if only for these factors, we need to move towards acceptance.  Besides, would you really take up a crusade against Jewish alternative lifestyles and alternative lifestyle week at Disney? 

You would be going against numerous Jews and Disney fans, and consequently become a Hitler and a kill joy.  Among the more popularly-known advocates of alternative lifestyles are house truckers, vegetarians, hooligans, New Age travelers, and swingers. 

House truckers are hippie nomads who make a living out of small cottage industries; vegetarians eat only fruits and vegetables for a variety of reasons; hooligans practice unruly and violent behavior; and New Age travelers espoused New Age beliefs while being modern nomads.  

Unique among these alternative lifestyles is swinging.  It is a form of recreational and social sex, with roots in the 1950s practice of wife swapping.  Basically, people engage in sex for its sake; fringe benefits like meeting new people and traveling to new places are additional attractions but are not the main reasons for engaging in the lifestyle.  You can meet swingers in cities like Phoenix, Arizona (AZ) and Jacksonville, Florida (FL) to confirm this statement of mine.

A swingers family in the swinging lifestyle is not an oddity.  Amature swingers with own web sites cannot hope to hide their alternative lifestyle from their families and friends, especially with the pervasiveness of the Internet in modern life. 

Sooner or later, they will be discovered and subject to judgment.  Then again, a swingers family is often prepared for the consequences of their choice and will defend it passionately, if and when necessary. 

For those who wish to condemn a swingers family for immorality had better look into a mirror.  Where you see a righteous man who tries his best to follow moral codes of monogamy but still indulge in adultery, swingers see a lying hypocrite. 

You see, swinging is done because you do not want to cheat and to lie to your partner about your lustful desires for another person.  You, on the other hand, lie and cheat to satisfy your illicit lust.  There is a world of difference in that decision.
